Additional Notes Built at Eastleigh on frames from Ashford. Only BR designed and built EMU class to have worked on 1500v DC and then (from 1960-62) 25kV AC. Originally DTSOL; refurbished as DTCOL c.1983; then converted by Hunslet Barclay in 1994 as prototype NAA Propelling Control Vehicle (PCV) for use in mail train formations to enable push/pull movements at termini without locomotive having to run-round.
